SEO Help for big images

Do you run your own website? One of the big problems is that people don't quite grasp image sizes. Or perhaps the image weight makes more sense. If you upload an image straight off a camera, it's likely that the photo could be a couple of meg in size. If you do 3 or 4 images on a page that could be 8 meg in just photos alone. Added to your website page it can easily slip over 10 meg. That's the internet equivalent of pushing a melon down a hose pipe. It's just too big and heavy and results in a very slow loading time. This pisses off Google ( and visitors ) will affect your rankings and visitors patience.

So what to do about it? You could spend time learning how to edit photos to make them lighter ( remember dpi is a print reference not a web image reference so aim at ppi instead) see it's too complicated already! You could of course use an app like this
https://imageoptim.com

It will make your images lighter but not smaller in size. ( no one wants to look at a postage stamp sized photo) run your photo's through something like this, and magically , like a post Christmas diet, the weight will drop off, make your loading time faster and keeps Google happy.
